Research & Deep Dives: Exploring Culinary Heritage
Ciao! I’m Sofia, a high school student passionate about good food, different cultures, and travel. Born in Italy and raised in California since I was seven, I’ve been exposed to two completely different cultures. However, if there's something I know can make people come together, it's good food. So, over the years I've collected a series of recipes from friends, travels, and stories that I hope to share with you all!
Research and Deep Dive
Food isn’t just about taste—it’s also about history, culture, and tradition. This section features research on iconic foods and ingredients, starting with my first project: Parmigiano Reggiano.
Future research topics will include balsamic vinegar from Modena, Neapolitan pizza’s UNESCO status, and the art of curing Prosciutto di Parma.
Here, I explore:
What makes Parmigiano Reggiano different from regular Parmesan
The strict rules that protect its authenticity
The economic, environmental and cultural impact of this legendary cheese
The battle against counterfeits around the world
The story behind
Parmigiano Reggiano
Why Prosciutto di Parma is still cured like it was
centuries ago
Culinary Postcards
Each recipe is more than just a list of ingredients - it’s a piece of someone’s history, shared by friends met during summer vacations, local families, and communities around the world.
